The elves of Valin blend the qualities of traditional lore to create a magical setting that is familiar and engaging at the same time. Belin – half human/half elf – exceeds adult elves’ powers, skills, and abilities from before the age of two. She struggles through the confusion of establishing herself in two worlds: healing the sick alongside her mother in the five human lands and Valin and protecting humans from a warring overlord with Dad. She has many adventures but remains meek and humble of heart. The most difficult challenge she faces is understanding why some humans are evil and how she and her people – both human and elf alike – can stand up for what is right.
